In the late 1980s, Haring noticed that the empty ad spaces of the New York City subway were covered in matte black paper when the ad subscriptions expired. He immediately bought some chalk and started drawing. Over the next five years, this became a daily, repetitive obsession

Over a period of five years, from 1980 to 1985, Haring drew more than 5,000 chalk drawings in New York City subway stations.

his subway drawings are among his best known and most celebrated work. Of the large number of drawings made in the subway, some were published in a book art in transit and 31 subway drawings.

Additional letter attached, According to the Keith Haring Foundation, this street art created by the artist was not intended to be sold later.

Work is framed and in excellent condition.
