Fine silver print of a photograph taken in 1951 by Henny Riemens (1928-1998), first wife of the painter Guillaume Corneille (1922-2010) which has often been reproduced in books. Original print made by the photographer. Photograph referenced for example under number 13 in the book: - Ooggetuige van Cobra, Museum Fodor, Amsterdam, exhibition catalogue, 1988, under the title: Shadows, Malmö, 1951: Corneille, Henny & Anders Osterlin, Henny Riemens. Original large format print made during the photographer's lifetime, ready to hang. Metal-coloured frame and passe-partout with black edging - Open window on the back showing the Atelier Corneille stamp. Dimensions: 30 x 39 cm. Dimensions with frame: 43.5 x 53.5 cm Alongside Guillaume Corneille, Henny Riemens (1928-1992) followed the Cobra group at all times and provided essential testimony to the group as a photographer. Most of the books on the Cobra movement reproduce images by Henny Riemens, which were widely distributed over the following decades. The photographer produced numerous portraits of artists in their daily lives and at work in their studios. An exhibition is in preparation. Provenance: Collection Guillaume Corneille (1922-2010), painter born in Liège of Dutch parents, founding member of the Cobra group with Karel Appel, Constant, Dotremont, Asger Jorn, Vinkenoog; Lucebert or Pierre Alechinsky.
